Grok4 just shipped a day ago.
Terrifying was used to describe it by Musk.
Interesting, eh?
So that got me thinking ...
The future of software is what?
Well, if I am a corporation and I have 100 IT professionals and I spend x on Commercial Software might I now flip the script?
Is build now more appealing vs buy?
What if I approach one of the big firms and negotiated with direct access to APIs and models?
This would be like the early days of Cloud.
Or, like early days of Cell phone usage as I mentioned in a prior post.
Why would I pay for software when I could write custom APIs, RPA and intergrate on my own?
Why would I pay the big consulting firms to be integrators?
If I can code with agents right inside of my own data center and build anything I want why would I need to pay a premium to all these vendors?
6 months ago -- this is nonsense.
Post Grok4 and soon GPT5 will be released ... I'm not so sure major business model disruption is years away.
I almost see a software product to help C-levels negotiate such deals. Probably could code up a POC in a weekend if Grok4 is as powerful as advertised.
